Hello everyone, hope summer treated you well. It seems like we have gone straight from summer weather to a wet fall.
We continue to motor forward on the site, but have definitely run into some construction frustrations. We have been anxiously awaiting some third party approvals (BC Hydro, Agricultural Land Commission, Capital Regional District) that are definitely affecting our construction schedule. A lot of the work we need to do now involves the trenching for services (power, cable, sewer etc.) and we can’t start until BC Hydro approves the plan (they have had it for almost 7 months!?!). We do anticipate the approvals shortly and are proactively managing the bottleneck in the schedule. All this being said, it appears as though the opening is going to slide into the new year. Hopefully this does not cause any great heartaches, happy to discuss with any of you directly. As mentioned in our last update, because we cannot confidently say when the park will be open yet, we are prepared to give a generous grace period for people to move in when it does. At this stage, I would encourage people to plan for early in the new year for the park to open, say February, and hopefully we are all pleasantly surprised.
We are very proud of what we are building at Ocean Winds. It is going to be a first class physical development, but more importantly, a special community – we really look forward to completing the development phase as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Keith McRae
